White Outs

These installations were done on some of the many bombed and shell-pocked buildings from the 1992–1995 Bosnian War that still stand in Mostar as stark reminders of the city's siege and division. Many bombed-out buildings in Mostar remain unrepaired because of unclear property ownership, a lack of funding, and political divisions. Mostar is still politically split between Bosniak and Croat communities. Reaching agreements on urban planning and property rights moves very slowly. Some residents and leaders view the ruins as powerful war memorials that show the true cost of conflict, while others want them torn down for modernization.
